STEP 1:  Hold the brush with the bristles facing down under running water. Be careful to let the water only touch the bristles, not the handle or the ferrule.

STEP 2:  Squeeze out excess makeup and water until the water runs clear.

STEP 3:  Put a small drop of mild hand soap, olive oil, or makeup brush cleaner in your palm. Still holding the brush upside down, massage the bristles into the drop of cleanser.

STEP 4:  Rinse under the water.

STEP 5:  Squeeze out the excess water. Lay the brush to dry with the bristles hanging off the edge of the counter.
