How To Trim Your Nails
Just like filing the nails, trimming of the nails should be done regularly. Trimming of the nails should be done a little differently than the process of filing nails. Before trimming the nails, they should be soaked in warm, soapy water. By doing this, it softens the nails and also cleanses them. Trimming the nails immediately after soaking should be done because the nail is softer than usual allowing for easier trimming. This helps to not put as much strain on the nail and prevents splitting.
The nail should be trimmed no shorter than the edge of the finger, trimming the nail too short and be painful and may cause bleeding. The same process can be done with the toenails as well. The toenails are generally thicker and harder to cut than the fingernails. Just like the fingernails, the toenails should not be cut too short. Too short of toenails can result in ingrown toenails and infection.
Trimming should be done regularly with both the toenails and fingernails. Avoiding strain on the nail will prevent splitting and damage to the nail. If nails too feel thin or brittle, apply a nail strengthener or top coat.
