Sensitive Skin Defined
Sensitive skin is increasingly common among every age and gender. While being bombarded by environmental stimuli, stress, sun exposure and unhealthy, sensitive skin may be hard to treat. Sensitive skin is a condition but can also occur because of genetics. This skin condition is characterized by fragile, thin skin and redness.
Sensitive skin can be easily irritated by products and by exposure to heat or sun. Rosacea and vascular conditions are more common with this type of skin. These conditions may be a protective visible reaction to let us know that something is wrong. This condition may be a result of age or medications. Chemicals, heat, and harsh products can sensitize the skin.
Avoid irritating products and procedures that stimulate the skin. Excessive rubbing, heat and exfoliation can be damaging and increase redness. This condition can be treated with gentle, nonirritating, calming products. The main goal when dealing with sensitive skin is to sooth, calm, and protect.
