Fall 2013 Eyeshadow Colors: Timeless and Trends

Ready to put away the gold shimmer shadow and the deep bronze dust away with your bikini and shorts?

If you haven’t made the seasonal wardrobe “switch” yet, consider taking a day this weekend to do the ol’ switcheroo with both your wardrobe and your makeup.

Generally the wardrobe will take longer, but it’s important to change out your makeup pallette as well. (And, while you do it, weed out products that you’ve had past their “best by” date. Never a bad idea.)

So what are the colors you should be keeping out this Fall?

For starters, we can promise you the “timeless” autumn shades will rock it year after year.  Get used to it. (And think leaves.)

Deep russets, shimmering chocolates, dark yellow-golds, forest greens, and even plums will never go out of style. Pair the shades to compliment a touch point of color in your outfit, purse, or even shoes, or go completely apart from what you are wearing for a bold POP.

If you’re looking for the “latests,” you can check out Sephora’s Elemental Energy pallette, modeling itself off of the Earth’s 4 elements. They promise a true to pigment, creamy shadow and they deliver in 16 beautiful hues that I could certainly find an outfit or two to rock with.

Urban Decay, the latest brand I have fallen in uber-mad-love with (read here for tips on primer) is showing their latest “Vice 2,” with 20 all new, ultra luxe shades that made my hands get clammy I was so excited when I saw them for the first time. (Seriously, don’t judge. :)) I’m a brown eyed gal, so all the colors are appealing to me, but I’ve definitely got my eye on the greens, that deep plum and the navy. With the variety of shades and depths to play with though, a girl with any colored eyes should be excited. Nars is claiming “Haute. Hypnotic. Modern Matte.” on their website and though I’m a forever fan of the brand, I wasn’t as excited about their latest shades as I have been in the past. They’ve got the modern matte down (with maybe the exception of the shimmery Bavaria) but as far as hypnotic goes… well it may be the kind of hypnotic that lulls you to a comfortable sleep- not necessarily a bad thing. For fall though, I personally want the get your blood pumping–find an excuse to go out– so you can wear these shadows kind of excitement. Which colors and brands are YOU lusting over this season?
