DIY & At Home Facials: The Dry Skin Edition
It bears repeating, every girl with every different type of skin tone deserves a facial. So, in today’s post, we’re sharing at home DIY recipes for those gals whose dry skin needs some love! (As if you needed an excuse anyway!)
Avocado, Olive Oil, and Honey
- ½ avocado
- 1 tbsp. honey
- ¼ cup olive oil
Mash up the avocado until creamy, add in the honey and olive oil. If your skin is irritated, add in 1 tbsp. of plain yogurt. Leave on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. To close the pores, dab the face with a cool wash cloth after it has been thoroughly rinsed.
The fatty oils in the avocado will provide lots of moisture to dry skin. The honey will soothe and tighten the skin. If you do add yogurt to it, this will help any redness or irritation. The olive oil will provide extra moisture.
Banana and Honey
- 1 banana
- 2 tbsp. honey
Mash the banana in a small bowl and add the honey to make a paste. Apply the mask to clean skin and let sit for about 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water. To close pores, dab the face with a cool wash cloth after it has been thoroughly rinsed.
This sounds pretty similar to the facial for oily skin, except the lemon juice is left out. The lemon juice has a drying effect, which is why it is left out in this instance. The banana is filled with many vitamins and nutrients, and the honey will allow the skin to feel soft and refreshed.
