Are Butters Better? Moisturizer 101
Don’t let the heavy creams and butters fool you, these products don’t always give you moisture, but sit on top of the skin not allowing any moisture to leave the skin.
When purchasing any skin care, always make sure its been dermatologist tested, that way you know it’s generally safe to use on your own skin. Some ingredients to look for within a moisturizer would be; water, glycerin, hydromanil, shea butter and other natural ingredients. Ingredients to avoid would be; fragrant oils and alcohol. If you’re not sure about a product, do some research on it. (The internet is a wonderful thing, no?)
One product that I have recently worked with is Obagi Hydrate. This product is very lightweight but provides continuous moisture for 8 hours! Hydrate is gentle, hypoallergenic and does not clog your pores. How the hydrate works is by keeping the water in the skin retained and gradually delivers moisture to the skin instead of it absorbing right away, in turn leaving you completely dry within a couple hours. This is great for any skin type and fits perfectly into any regimen.
Keep in mind that all moisturizers do not have to be heavy and cream like to work. The ingredients are key! Also, asking your skin care professional you already see will help guide you in the right direction from someone who has been already working with your skin!

Thanks for the info!
This is the time of year where your skin dries out the most. It is time for me to look into a new product as I no longer feel it is good enough for the job. Thanks for the info!
