After Sun Skin Care!
Did you get too much sun this summer and looking for remedies to correct the sunburn or pigmentation? Luckily there are home remedies and spa treatments that can help your skin back to normal.
Just the right amount of sun already seems like too much. The skin is very sensitive to the sun and the sight of a tan is the first sign to damaged skin. UV rays emit free radicals into the skin, which damages the proteins of the cells. Free radical damage leads to loss of elastin, collagen, leads to wrinkles, pigmentation and worst of all skin cancer. Although the damage has been done, it can be repaired with antioxidants and vitamins. Vitamin A is known to reverse the signs of damaged skin by the sun. Vitamin A should be taken orally and used topically for the best results. Vitamin A vitamins can be found at a drug store or prescribed by your doctor. Retin-A is a form of topical Vitamin A can be found at a medical spa or doctors office.
Soothing the skin after being in the sun is important as well. Using a rose water toner, aloe gel, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, chemical peels, fruit acid peels, light exfoliation or soothing masks may be used to soothe sunburn or even just to being to restore damaged skin. Pigmentation disorders are likely to show after being in the sun for long periods of time; freckles, moles, melisma and other forms of pigmentation can be the result of sun damage. If anything looks different on the skin, visiting a physician should be done immediately, just to be safe. Skin cancer unfortunately is on the rise, but some forms can be removed before they get too serious. Visiting a spa after exposure to the sun is not only relaxing, but a facial or body treatment provided by a skin therapist will start the healing process and she/he may be able to suggest to you products to use.
Whether you are pampering yourself at home after being in the sun or heading to the spa, always check your skin for changes and note any concerns. The sun, if not taken seriously can do very harmful damage. Always protect your skin while outside.
