Does Colder Weather Make for Heavier Makeup? Quick Tips & Tricks from Our Expert
The cold winter months are upon us, so what do we do with our makeup? As November and December approach, our skin begins to lose the “summer glow”, it begins to look dull and lifeless. With some simple changes to your makeup regimen, your skin will still look dewy and beautiful without heavy makeup application.
Instead of using a plain moisturizer, try a tinted moisturizer. This will give you a little more of a base for the foundation, so the application of the foundation isn’t as heavy. Match your foundation to your jawline and neck, if it’s a little darker than your face, it’s ok, this will help conceal dark spots or blemishes. Don’t be afraid to glow! The bronzer should be one shade darker than your skin tone, anything darker could have too much contrast.
Go bold with eye color! Darker shadows look great in the colder seasons because they have such a great contrast and compliment darker colored fabrics. When choosing an eye shadow, matte is best. Frosty or shimmery colors tend to wash out the skin color.
When picking a lip color, choose a lipstick over a stain. The lip stains tend to be drying to the lips, and don’t forget to exfoliate your lips once a week. This can be done by gently rubbing a toothbrush over your lips in a circular motion, apply chapstick afterwards. Now finish off the look with a waterproof mascara and a light dusting of translucent powder, this will help your makeup to stay on your face and not a fashionable scarf.
The cooler months does not mean heavier makeup, your skin just needs a little more TLC. Add a tinted moisturizer, some lighter bronzer, darker eye shadow, lipstick and waterproof mascara and you are set!
