Permanent Makeup: Pros and Cons
Who wouldn’t want to get up and go every morning without putting on any makeup? I know I would love it! Permanent makeup tattooing or micropigmentation gained popularity in the 1980’s. Cancer patients who lost their hair and women that were diagnosed with diseases that prohibited them to apply their own makeup were said to greatly benefit from this, but what happens when they don’t want that color anymore?
Permanent makeup is growing very quickly in the beauty industry. Eyeliner, lip liner and filling in the eyebrows are the most common methods of the tattoo makeup. It sounds kind of scary; having a needle that close to your eyeball but most say the procedure is more uncomfortable than painful. Some pros to having permanent makeup include: Not spending time on that specific area while getting ready and allows women to have the appearance of makeup that maybe can’t do their own or will not grow hair back (eyebrows.) Is it really worth the hype though? Depending on where you go and the location, the procedure can range from $100-$1,500 for one session. There have been many cases of keloids, scaring, blisters and burning from this procedure. Not to mention, anyone can buy the tools. Just like in a tattoo shop, the implements must be clean, or there is a risk of spreading HIV, staph and hepatitis. The makeup also claims to be permanent, but just like a real tattoo, the color fades, and if you want to keep up on it, it has to be filled in every couple years.
Before making the big decision of permanent makeup, take a look at both the pros and cons. You may wake up with half a finished face, but is it worth all the money and the potential harm to your skin?

Scary but might just be worth it. I’d consider my eye brows, not sure on the lip liner. That would just look weird when your lipstick came off.
I would never get permanent make up done. That sounds too scary. What if you don’t want to look the same every day? That is the nice thing about make up is that you can experiment and look different.
